In RE, we have been learning about the start of Advent and the message Mary received from Gabriel. We looked at art work to see how stories can be shown in different ways.
This term in Science, we have been looking at reversible and irreversible changes. We had lots of fun mixing different solutions to see what new substances would be made. Our materials list included bicarbonate of soda, vinegar, lemon juice, washing powder, effervescent tablets, cola, mentos and water.
Do you know happens when you mix some of these materials?
In our first week, we have already been really busy using pluckers in Engliah and Maths, learning about our new history topic- The Vikings and Anglo Saxons and producing our first Extended writing piece.
I also shared one of my favourite quotes I read at the Banksy gallery. I hope it really makes you all positive about the work you’re going to come across in Year 5.
‘Winners are not those who never fail but those who never quit.’ Banksy
Yesterday in maths, Year 5 made models of 3D shapes. We used blue tack and straws to represent the vertices and edges of the 3D shapes which helped us to understand which one was which! We really enjoyed showing off our models to everyone once they were finished. Can you work out how many edges and vertices a cuboid has?
